Victoria, B.C.
British
culture and island informality collide in Victoria, where you're never
far from someplace new to explore. Set on the southeastern tip of
Vancouver Island, this sophisticated seaside city is full of historic
sites, parks and gardens.
FANCY FOOTWORK
You can choose from a variety of walking tours, and many begin at the
Parliament Buildings at Victoria's Inner Harbor. Combined with the
majestic Empress Hotel, these monumental buildings give the city a
regal, European feel. But you don't have to stroll too far to see
equally impressive modern structures, such as the Royal British
Columbia History Museum, or replicas of large, native Northwest Indian
houses at Thunderbird Park. Numerous unique attractions can be found
throughout the city, including the Undersea Gardens, Miniature World,
the Maritime Museum, Chinatown and the Royal London Wax Museum, which
features more than 200 life-size figures.
GARDENS GALORE
One of the most memorable places to visit is the world-famous Butchart
Gardens, where you'll find 5,000 varieties of flowers, trees and
shrubs, many of which are rare and exotic. The dazzling gardens on
Saanich Inlet are just as beautiful at night, when hundreds of lights
sparkle along the meandering paths. Additional gardens in Victoria
include the Crystal Garden - named for its glass-roofed enclosure -
and the gardens surrounding the Government House and near Craigdarroch
Castle, a towering Victorian mansion, complete with a tower and
turrets.
HORSE-DRAWN
CARRIAGE
There's nothing quite like touring this fabulous city in a horse-drawn
carriage. Leave it to Princess to offer this unique opportunity,
perfect for couples or families looking for a little adventure. We
also offer a tour of gorgeous Victoria Harbor. Whatever your pleasure,
the sunniest spot in Canada is sure to brighten your trip north. |
