Vancouver, B.C.
Often
thought of as Canada's most beautiful city, Vancouver is a thriving
metropolis that's fortunate enough to be surrounded by so much natural
beauty. With its numerous parks, beaches, gardens, museums, art
galleries - even the second-largest Chinatown in North America -
Vancouver is one of those rare places that actually lives up to its
promise of offering something for everyone.
SIGHTSEEING AT
STANLEY PARK
With its modern buildings juxtaposed against green, rolling hillsides,
this chic city is simply breathtaking, and no location offers a more
spectacular view of it all than Stanley Park. With a zoo, aquarium,
totem poles and honking geese, this slice of paradise is a must for
every itinerary. A short walk from the park will take you to Robson
Street, which offers the best window-shopping in town. Stores with
European flavor share the avenue with delicatessens and tea rooms that
stand ready to serve when you need to give your feet a rest.
OVERFLOWING
WITH OPTIONS
As the architectural heart of the city, Robson Square features a
central plaza with a food fair and an old provincial courthouse, which
now houses the Vancouver Art Gallery. Be sure to stop at nearby 8
Pender St., which bills itself as "the narrowest building in the
world." Other points of interest include the Museum of Anthropology,
home to numerous totem poles and other impressive sculptures by native
Haida artists; the Japanese-style Nitobe Memorial Garden; and the
VanDusen Botanical Garden, which boasts exotic plants and flowers from
around the globe.
EXPLORING THE
NATURAL BEAUTY
With all of Vancouver's urban options, be sure to set aside time to
explore the natural beauty that surrounds the city. In addition to a
Deluxe Grand City Tour, Princess offers a nature tour of Capilano
Canyon, where you'll find the world's longest and highest suspension
footbridge, which draws more than half a million thrill-seekers each
year. |
